What's New With Dollars for Scholars?

WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE!  We are very excited to be online and plan to add more information and improve this site in the coming months.  Our chapter is always working on behalf of local students. Check out this page for an ongoing look at student, chapter and community news -- plus events and other ways you can get involved!

Our chapter manages and offers some local scholarships available to alumni and to current seniors at Blue Earth Area High School who will graduate in June, 2017 and plan to continue with some form of post high school education.  Students who want to be considered for any of these awards, that range in size from $500 to $8000, must complete a Student Profile which can be found by clicking on the "Students & Parents" tab above.  The local scholarships are awarded to students at the spring high school awards programs.  By completing the Student Profile,  Blue Earth Area seniors or alumni will not only be considered for local scholarships, but, will also be provided with information about many more scholarships available across the nation that are found to be a good match for you!  To be considered for local and national Dollars for Scholars scholarships, current seniors and graduates of Blue Earth Area High School must complete their Student Profile within the application period of November 15, 2016 - February 15, 2017 for awards presented in the spring of 2017.  Go ahead and get started!  You have nothing to lose and such much more to gain!  A list of local scholarships is provided for you below.  Good luck!

Blue Earth Area Dollars for Scholars Local Scholarship List:

Blue Earth Drug-$1000 for a senior planning a 4 year degree in a medical related career.  Preference may be given to those planning to enter the field of pharmacy and work in a rural area.

Bolton & Menk Inc.-$500 for a senior planning a 4 year degree in any field of engineering.  Preference may be given to those planning to become a civil engineer.

Callaghan Family-$1000 for a senior planning further education in a medical related career.

Ellen Jane Klimo-$1500 for a senior who has a disability and is planning further education.

Hoffman-Paschke Family-$2000 for a senior planning further education and service to others.

Jeanne & Larry Larkin Memorial-$1000 for a female senior planning further education.

-Lions Club-$1000 for a male or female senior planning further education who participated in high school varsity athletics and has never had a MSHSL violation on their record.

-Lutter Family-Up to $1000 for current seniors or alumni of BEAHS planning further education.

-Mary Tempel Award-$1000 for a senior planning further education who has participated in community service activities such as the Peer Helper Program.

-Maynard & Marion Johnson Memorial-$1000 for a senior planning further education.

-Mitteldorf Family-$500 for a senior planning further education in a conservation, agriculture or personal family life sciences related career.

-Tom and Sue Juba Humanitarian Service-$1000 for a senior planning to attend a 2 year technical college or community college program.

-Vera Steinberg-A scholarship program that varies in number and amount up to 4 awards per year sharing approx. $8000. Offered to alumni of BEAHS currently in college and preparing for a career in agriculture or religion.
